How early should I book my videographer?

We recommend booking your videographer as soon as you have your wedding date and venue secured. When you first reach out to us, we’ll confirm the availability of your desired date. We recommend booking your videographer at least six months in advance to ensure you secure your spot. During peak wedding seasons, it’s advisable to book even earlier, as it’s not uncommon for couples to meet with us and finalize their arrangements more than a year in advance. Planning ahead allows us to work closely with you to capture your vision for your special day!

What is your style and approach to capturing weddings?

At Valley Creek Productions, we specialize in a storytelling style of videography that focuses on capturing the genuine emotions and unfolding moments of your wedding day. Our experienced videographers work unobtrusively to document your event as it naturally occurs, creating a final product that you, your friends, and family will cherish for years to come.

Our approach emphasizes authenticity—rather than staging shots or conducting interviews with guests, we focus on the real moments that tell your unique story. You won’t find “cheesy” digital effects in our videos; instead, we aim to showcase the beauty and emotion of your day in a way that feels true to you.

Investing in a wedding video is one of the few elements of your celebration that becomes more valuable over time. Long after the food has been enjoyed and the dress has been stored away, your wedding video will serve as a heartfelt reminder of your special day. Imagine sharing that joy with your children in ten years or with your grandchildren in thirty! While still photographs capture snapshots of moments, your wedding film brings you back to the live experience. Just like a thrilling football game, sometimes it’s more exciting to relive those memories through the lens of video than through still images.

Can I choose the music for my video?

Absolutely!

We want your wedding video to reflect your personal style and preferences. For the documentary feature film, we have more flexibility in music selection since it’s for personal use only. For the highlight and short films, we’ll guide you to licensed music libraries, so you can choose tracks that allow your video to be shared on social media without any copyright concerns. If you’d rather not pick the music yourself, just let us know, and our team can offer suggestions tailored to your style.

What is included in my documentary feature film?

Your documentary feature film captures all the major moments of your wedding day, providing a comprehensive view of your celebration. It includes the full ceremony, featuring live sound from the day, from the first bridesmaid walking down the aisle to the last couple recessing out. To ensure high-quality audio, we place wireless microphones on everyone who speaks—such as the groom, officiant, and soloists. We also cut between multiple camera angles to provide a diverse perspective of your ceremony, making the most of the number of videographers on-site.

In addition to the ceremony, the feature film includes your introductions, first dance, toasts, and other special dances, all presented in full. We capture audio directly from your DJ or band to maintain excellent sound quality and use microphones on all speakers to ensure their messages are heard clearly.

Other portions of the day that we cover (depending on your chosen package) include getting ready, the photo session, the cocktail hour, and dancing which are presented in a montage format set to music of your choice.

The runtime of your documentary feature film varies based on the length of the ceremony, toasts, reception formalities, and the total time we are on location for your wedding. Typically, a video featuring a church ceremony will run around 90 minutes, while a wedding with a shorter ceremony at the reception site usually runs around 60 minutes. Please note that there is an additional charge of $200 for ceremonies over 30 minutes and/or extended reception formalities to account for the additional editing time.

What kind of cameras do your videographers use?

We use a range of professional-grade cameras to capture your wedding day with stunning clarity. Our videographers shoot with high-definition cameras, including the Canon C80, Canon R6M2, Panasonic X180, and DJI drones, all capable of filming in up to 4K resolution. These cameras are designed for exceptional low-light performance, ensuring that every moment—from the softly lit ceremony to the lively reception—is beautifully and professionally recorded.

When do I need more than one videographer?

Having multiple videographers adds significant value to your wedding film, especially if you have more than 100 guests. We like to think of it as adding a third dimension to your video.

With a single videographer, we capture stunning coverage of the ceremony, but we’re typically positioned toward the back, which limits our ability to get close-ups of your family and friends’ reactions. Adding a second videographer allows us to capture multiple angles, ensuring we don’t miss a moment—from your vows and first look to the first dance and heartfelt toasts.

For weddings with over 200 guests, we highly recommend a third videographer during the ceremony and key reception events. This ensures seamless coverage, especially in larger venues or city weddings with multiple locations.
